Mission Statement
The mission of the Engineering Graphics Technology program is to provide the Upstate of South Carolina with professionally prepared CAD design technicians capable of making significant contributions to the progress of business and industry in the area.
Program Educational Objectives
- An appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of industrial CAD design.
- An ability to apply up-to-date knowledge, and adapt to emerging applications of engineering technology in order to solve technical problems.
- An ability to conduct, analyze and interpret experiments, and apply the results to improve processes and products.
- An ability to generate specifications, and subsequently design a component, system, or process to meet the expectations of both customers and employers.
- The skills needed to perform effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- An ability to communicate effectively.
- An understanding of professional engineering ethics and the contemporary issues in which they apply.
- A commitment to pursue lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
Program Outcomes
- Read, interpret, or create technical engineering documentation that captures the concept and design intent of a product using state of the art CAD Technology such that the product can be manufactured
- Understand and apply basic engineering technology principles
- Communicate ideas using sketching, manual drafting and state of the art CAD as appropriate
- Communicate verbally and with presentation tools (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Understand and apply current industry drawing standards
- Research technical information, products, and services required to assist in project completion
- Work with minimal supervision to accomplish assigned tasks
- Work with a cooperative spirit in a team environment
- Understand organizational structure and corresponding duties and responsibilities
- Work with a sense of professionalism, punctuality and timeliness
- Demonstrate creativity and initiative in problem solving situations
- Understand a continuous need for lifelong learning
