As long as there has been an EGT program at Greenville Tech, there has been an Advisory Committee supporting the program.

The EGT Advisory Committee is organized to advise the faculty on the world of work and is composed of a group of people outside the educational field with specific occupational knowledge and expertise. This is important to establish and maintain an up-to-date EGT program. Changes in technology, business, industry and government have increased the need for effective communication between education and the world of work. An advisory committee of interested, competent, and concerned citizens is the most productive and effective method for involving the community in education. It is a vital link between the community and the college.

The function of the EGT Advisory Committee is to advise on the development, operation and evaluation of the EGT program. The committee members serve the mission of the program by advancing the following objectives:

• Community Research
• Course Content
• Student Placement
• Public Relations & Recruitment
• Equipment, Facilities & other Resources
• Faculty & Staff Review
• Program Evaluation

The EGT Advisory Committee meets as a group two to three times per year. The minutes of the meetings are published and available for review. The committee is divided into four sub groups which meet as necessary and specialize their focus on the following areas:

• Accreditation & Quality
• Curriculum Content
• Equipment, Software & Technology
• Public Outreach & Enrollment
